ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The American Red Cross is ready to mobilize for whatever the weather may bring, but they need your help.

The Southwest Georgia chapter serves 11 counties, and they currently have shelters on stand-by in more than half of them. There are three shelters already set up and ready to go if needed in Dougherty County. This comes at a time when donations are down.

"We want to make sure that when and if those resources are needed that they are there because disaster doesn't wait. When we need to respond, we need to make sure that we have the where with all to do that," said American Red Cross Spokesperson, Ruben Brown.

The Red Cross won't know how much the flooding in our area will cost until the threat is over. The Southwest Georgia Chapter of the Red Cross desperately need volunteers. Anyone interested in donating time or money can call 229-436-4845.
