Albany - 40,000 turkeys and hams are filling the tables of South Georgians in need, thanks in part to drug-maker Merck.

Merck donated $6,000 to the Food Bank of Southwest Georgia. The food bank used the donation to help buy turkeys and hams, that will be sent to shelters and charities across Southwest Georgia.

"It's amazing many people the Food Bank can help with just $6,000. We always want to help them feed South Georgian in need," said Judith Corbett with Merck.

"We could not have bought this many turkeys and hams without their donations," said Eddie Byrd, Food Bank SWGA. The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia serves 300 non-profit agencies, feeding tens of thousands of people each year.
