Cook County, GA (WALB) - A bridge at the Cook - Brooks County line is shut down due to high water.

The bridge on Antioch Road near Highway 133 is closed. Water is already within a foot of the bridge, with more heavy rain expected in that area.

Drivers will need to take alternate routes on Highway 76 South or Highway 37 West out of Adel.

"It's an older bridge with a lot of heavy truck traffic," explains Captain Mike Stone of the Cook County Sheriff's Department.  "Brooks County Officials, Cook County Officials, the road crew, and the sheriffs have gotten together and decided that the safe thing to do would be to close the bridge."

Cook County is also closely monitoring Kinard Bridge Road in Lenox and Lott Bridge Road in Northern Cook County.
