ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Turner County is also preparing for potential flooding. Prisoners spent the day filling up sandbags for people living near creeks and low lying areas to pick-up.

The City of Ashburn and Turner County Public Works Departments worked to clear ditches and storm drains in anticipation of the coming rain. All of the roads in the city have been repaired and they have freed up their barricades in case they have to close roads.

"When you have the impact of water that we had this weekend usually these areas are going to reclaim themselves. There is not a whole lot you can do, but keep the water ways opened up. Try to keep them free of debris so that the water can subside as soon as possible," said Public Works Director, Carlton Webb.

Sandbags can be picked up at the Department of Public Works during business hours. They can also be picked up behind City Hall on Johnson Street.
