Colquitt County, GA (WALB) -  The body of a missing man was discovered Monday, the same day his suspected killer confessed to the crime.

It was a tough weekend for family and friends of 27-years-old Joshua Morey, who was last heard from on Friday. Yesterday their worst fear became a reality when his body was discovered in rural Colquitt County.

According to authorities, his body was found on Edmondson Road near the home of the suspect they have in custody.  That person is 19-year-old James Jamal Williams, a resident of Colquitt County.

Morey, who lived in Sale City, left Friday morning to pick up a junk car from a house on Edmondson Road, which runs right behind Spence Field. When his family didn't t hear from him.. they called police. Authorities discovered his truck abandoned on Edmondson, but there was no sign of Morey.

Helicopters were called into assist local law enforcement in their search for the missing Mitchell County man who early on was believed to have been the victim of foul play.

"There were some shell casings found probably a quarter of a mile from the vehicle," said Captain Hal Suber of the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office. "We don't know if that had anything to do with the vehicle. We re just looking into it at this point as foul play."

Now the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called into to assist in the case. Law enforcement believes the motive in this case appears to be robbery. Morey's body will be sent to the GBI crime lab in Dekalb County for an autopsy.
