ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The South Georgia Wildcats improved to 2-0 with a 56-41 victory over the Florida Firecats Saturday night at the Albany Civic Center.
In the midst of a quarterback race, Cecil Lester was sick and Darnell Kennedy played the entire game.
Kennedy led the Wildcat offense throwing for 6 touchdowns.
After the win South Georgia Head Coach Rodney Blackshear said Kennedy's performance most likely won him the starting job.
"Darnell did everything we asked. It was kind of what you call a Tom Brady situation. Cecil got sick late last night, came down with mnemonia, he was gonna start. Darnell came out and used the opportunity to make plays and right now he's proven he should be the starter" said Blackshear.
"That was big on Darnell's part. He stepped in and made a lot of helpful throws. He's a good quarterback" said WR Alvonce Robinson.
"Everybody does everything good, making my job a lot easier. The offensive line is going out there blocking and the recievers are catching pretty much every thing" said Kennedy.
South Georgia will look to go 3-0 when it visits Oklahoma City next Saturday.
