ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The two week waiting period has expired and the city of Albany is prepared to make an offer to their choice for Albany's top cop.

The city expected to make Tallahassee Police Deputy Chief John Proctor a contract office late Friday afternoon or Monday.   Details of the offer weren't available Friday.

City leaders named Proctor the top candidate two weeks ago, and he told us he planned to take the job. Proctor has spent 28 years working for the Tallahassee Police Department, working his way up through the ranks and at one point serving as the interim chief.

Proctor said he plans to make dealing with Albany's gang problem a top priority when he accepts the job.
