ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Over the next two weeks 500 Cooper Tire employees will find themselves unemployed.

Starting at five o'clock Friday morning employees started filling out their separation paperwork. The layoffs will take place through April ninth.

Another two groups at Cooper have received their warn notices and will be out of a job by June. The company says they're still on the time frame first proposed to close the plant by the end of the year.

At some point production will also be reduced to just five days a week.
