The Albany State University Lady Rams, defending Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball champions, leave Tuesday morning to play in the 16th Annual SIAC Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 13-14.
The double-elimination tournament, hosted by Kentucky State University, will be held at the Frankfort Convention Complex and Arena in Frankfort, KY.
The Lady Rams enter the tournament as the top seed with a 16-12 overall and 8-0 SIAC records, and Kentucky State University is the number one seed in the West Region.
Albany State not only has a perfect conference record but they have also not lost a single game to in any conference match.
The Lady Rams will play the winner of the Clark Atlanta/Tuskegee game at 1 p.m., while Kentucky State plays the winner of the Miles/Benedict game.
ASU head coach Robert Skinner says his team is ready for the challenge of competing in the tournament. "We are going to go into the tournament with open minds," Skinner said. "The Lady Rams are mentally prepared to defend our SIAC crown. We are going for a repeat."
The Lady Rams, who also won the SIAC championship in 1998, will qualify for the N.C.A.A. Division II volleyball tournament if they win their conference tournament.
