Bainbridge - A video about World War II veterans gets national recognition by First Lady Laura Bush.

The Southwest Georgia Regional Public Library System in Bainbridge was one out of five winners in the nation for the 2002 Prestigious Museum and Library Service Award.

US Senator Max Cleland nominated the Bainbridge headquarters for it's outstanding service to the community. Librarian, Tom Bush, says, "One of the things the First Lady highlighted in her speech was our World War II Veteran's project. We interviewed 22 veterans. We have their records on tape and people can come check them out."

Their next project will be Korean War veterans. The Southwest Georgia Regional Library also has branches in Miller and Seminole Counties.

The Library recently celebrated their 100th anniversary.
