ALBANY, GA (WALB) - South Georgia Wildcats linebacker Kinny Spotwood is the first defensive player of the week in the AF2 season.
Receiver Kelvin Dickens earns the catch of the week.
Spotwood provided one of the key plays in the Wildcats one point win over Florida when he recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Tito Hannah created that fumble with a strip of the football from Florida quarterback Chris Wallace.
The former Lubbock Renegade also had two tackles in his first game since coming back from an injury last year.
Spotwood is excited about the potential for the Wildcats defense this season.
Kinny Spotwood said. "I could not have scored the touchdown if weren't for our defensive linemen. our defensive linemen are great. they did a great job. when we put it all together, we are going to be even better."
Wildcats announcing tonight the first 500 fans to attend Friday's pep rally can buy tickets for the home opener at half price.
