An inmate in the Dougherty County jail apparently commited suicide over the weekend, hanging herself in her cell.

Forty-eight-year-old Kathryn Farris was found by jailers at the Dougherty County Jail a little after 2:00 Sunday. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Farris was being held on a Probation violation charge for the Randolph County Sheriff's office. The body has been taken to the State Crime Lab in Moultrie, where an autopsy is scheduled.

Jail Commander Colonel Doug McGinley said Sheriff's investigators and the Coroner's office were called in after the suicide.
