DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA (WALB) -Dougherty County Police are investigating whether a man killed in a fatal truck crash last night near the Georgia Power Dam was drinking.

47 year old Jeffrey Keith Hoffman died when he was ejected from this truck just after 7 last night , when he drove it over a bank on Georgia Power Road. The passenger in the truck during the crash was the owner, 48 year old Riley Harrell.

Police say he suffered only minor injuries because he was wearing his seat belt. He was treated and released at the hospital.

Harrell told Police Hoffman asked to drive his new truck, and lost control coming around a curve on the dirt road, and it rolled down the embankment.

There were a number of beer cans at the crash scene.

Police says Hoffman was not wearing his seat belt. No charges have been filed.
