A Lowndes County man is behind bars after deputies uncovered nearly half a million dollars of marijuana.
ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Tens of millions of dollars of stimulus money is headed to south Georgia for road projects.
Late Thursday, the state Transportation Board approved 135 projects valued at more than $512 million.
It includes two projects in Dougherty County. More than $10.6 million will pay to widen Gillionville Road. Another $411,000 will be used to resurface Jefferson Street.
Contracts for all the projects will be awarded beginning next month with work starting in June.
The projects will be paid for completely with stimulus money. No local matching money is required.
And it's just phase one. Georgia expects to get another $420 million in stimulus money for road, bridge and infrastructure projects.
