Bishop ready to work with GOP

November 7, 2002

Albany-- Second District Congressman Sanford Bishop says he hopes "partisan politics" will calm after the Republican Parties big victory in Tuesday's election.

Bishop is working on committee appointments in the next term of Congress. Now that Republicans control the Senate, Congress, and the Presidency, he hopes that the two sides in Washington can work together better.

"Not Republican needs. Not Democratic needs. But the needs of Americans," said Bishop. "I believe that if the election tells us anything, it tells us that we need to be pro-American. And need to be about improving the quality of life for the people in America."

Congressman Bishop returns to Washington Tuesday for appropriation meetings. He says settling the budget is their first priority.
