BLAKELY, GA (WALB) - Two people are in jail and two more suspects are identified in a counterfeit check ring that started with a burglary in Early county.
After a story we aired last week, a woman involved in the ring turned herself in.
Sylvester Anderson of Albany and Penny Newsome of Lakeland are the only two arrests investigators have made in the case so far. Newsome turned herself in after seeing her picture on WALB News 10.
Now investigators are looking for these two men they say are also involved in the ring. Gregory and Willie Hollis of Valdosta. Investigators say Willie Hollis is the ringleader.
Investigators say it started in February when thieves stole two books of checks from Southeast Forest Industries in Early county. Then criminals started cashing those checks and made counterfeit checks. Businesses in Blakely, Tifton, Valdosta, and as far away as Griffen lost thousands of dollars.
Investigators say at least 15 people could be involved in the ring. Feedback
