ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission took a big step in their separation from the Chamber of Commerce by rolling out their own identity.

The Economic Development Commission agreed unanimously to accept a new logo. The A and D represent Dougherty County and the new symbol of development is said to represent a leaf, representing growth.

"It's very subdued, but it's there and it represents growth and Albany is an area that's prime for growth and it's an area rich in natural landscape, we have available land we have the Flint River, which long ago established us as a regional commercial hub and we sit atop the Floridan aquifer, so those things are tied in through the corporate identity through the actual design," said Barbara Rivera Holmes of the EDC.

Now that it's approved, the new design will begin to appear on letterhead, shirts, and note cards promoting Albany and Dougherty County.
