Cross permit denied

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A downtown Albany property owner interested in placing a large cross on top of the tallest building downtown is denied. The Historic Planning Commission denied Peter Studl's request to attach a large cross and install lights on the old Exchange building on North Washington.

The city forced him to remove smaller crosses in December because they violated city ordinances. Since it's an historic building, Studl was required to present his case to the Historic Preservation Commission first. They recommended denying the application.

The city commission voted Tuesday to accept their recommendation and deny his request.
