Valdosta - Lowndes County had one of its most successful election turnouts in years.

Thirty-seven percent of voters went to the polls - that's more than twice the number who voted in the primary.

Voters say they were very pleased with the new electronic voting machines and viewing real time election returns over the Internet.

"I got on the Internet to check out the election results and it was just great," said Ron Irwin, voter. "I could see the results as soon as they were counting them from the comfort of my own home."

Lowndes is the first county in Georgia to offer real time election results.
