ALBANY, GA (WALB) - In the game of basketball, teams that make their free throws in the clutch usually win championships.
Two Lincoln Magnet school students are preparing for the Elks Lodge district hoop shoot competition next Saturday at Valdosta State.
Fifth grader Nyla Perry and second grader Jordan Brown qualified for the district after winning the state competition.
Perry and Brown will compete against champions for four other states for the chance to compete at the national tournament next month in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Both Nyla and Jordan are big fans of basketball.
Jordan wants to be a point guard just like Mike Bibby of the Atlanta Hawks.
Jordan Brown said. "I want to be a point guard because they can dribble. They can shoot."
Nyla Perry said. "I think about making the shot. I like the way the ball feels in my hand. I made 19 of 20 when I was practicing. I have made 20-25 when I was actually shooting.
Jordan Brown's father Earnest Brown was a star at Dougherty High in the mid 1990's and was a hoop shoot champion in 1988.
