ALBANY, GA (WALB) - New research could make allergies to a popular south Georgia snack a thing of the past.

Researchers at Duke University have successfully eliminated the allergy several children have to peanuts.

They did it by giving the children small amounts of peanuts to build up their tolerance.

Peanut Farmers like Armond Morris say they're thrilled to learn these allergies can be overcome.

After two years children who had an allergy to peanuts now have no allergic reactions.
