  • When is the best time to begin orthodontics? Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there's an optimal time period to begin treatment - a time that ensures the greatest result with the least time & expense. The AAO recommends an initial orthodontic evaluation at the first sign of orthodontic problems, or no later than age 7. At this age orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but an examination can anticipate the best time to begin treatment.
