DAWSON, GA (WALB) - Peanut farmers and representatives from companies from around the world are touring our area.

The Annual Georgia Peanut Tour, is spotlighting south central Georgia's peanut production area.

The group toured Plains, Smithville, and Macon County on Thursday.

The last stop was in Dawson, at the National Peanut Research Lab. Visitors saw how peanuts can be used to made bio fuel.

"We form this committee, and we plan a tour each year to get people from various segments of the peanut industry. We exchange ideas and learn from each other," said Stan Jones, Ga. Peanut Tour Committee Chair.

This is the 22nd Annual Peanut Tour in Georgia.
