ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Managers of the Anchorage, located at the old Nike Base west of Albany, reports that the storm that passed through Wednesday afternoon severely damaged their facility.

Kenny Phillips says that multiple buildings had severe roof damage, which caused items inside to be soaked with rain water.

Phillips says that there is water standing in some buildings, and he asked for assistance from anyone who may be able to help. Phillips called the damage "Catastrophic."

The roofs of two buildings were ripped off by the strong winds, and heavy rained poured down into at least 12 rooms of residents, and the administration building. Lets take a look at video we shot earlier this afternoon.

The residents were nailing tarps over the holes in the roof, but the water damage was already devastating. Inside the Cates dorm building, ceilings fell in on several rooms. The residents clothes and furniture were soaked.

In the administration building computers were drenched. For the men who live there, it was a frightening time, but the good news no one was hurt.

The Anchorage started as a service of a Sunday School class from Albany First Methodist Church in 1953.

It officially incorporated in 1987.

Officials at the Anchorage say beginning Thursday, they will need donations including food, clothing and blankets.
