AMERICUS, GA (WALB) – Phoebe Putney Hospital made a big investment Monday in health care education.

The hospital pledged $1 million to Georgia Southwestern State University's School of Nursing

Phoebe CEO Joel Wernick and GSW president Kendall Blanchard, signed a memorandum of understanding.

The donation will equip the school with a virtual learning center to train nursing students in the new Health and Sciences Building.

The partnership is in collaboration with Phoebe Sumter Hospital which is scheduled to open next year.
