Lady Patriots/Bulldogs shocked, Tift/Valdosta advance

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  It was a day of ups and downs for the remainder of the high school basketball teams representing South Georgia in their respective state playoffs tournaments.  It all began with the Lady Cougars of Crisp County shocking one of class 3A's top teams, the Westover Lady Patriots. Crisp County advanced to the Final 4 with a 37-35 win and will play Dalton next Friday in Macon. 

The Thomasville Bulldogs needed two overitmes to settle things with Swainsboro but fell 74-71 in the Class AA elite 8. Swainsboro moves on to play GAC next Thursday in Macon.

Jay Rome left with an eye injury but later returned to help lift Valdosta over Newton 68-61.  The Wildcats move on to play Norcross in the class AAAAA state semifinals on Thursday at 5:30 in Duluth. 

Tift County impressed on the other side of the class AAAAA state quarterfinal bracket.  The Devils rolled over Savannah 70-56.  They will play Milton next Thursday at 8:30 in Duluth.
