ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  It's Mardi Gras time in Albany and the weekend festivities were in full swing on Saturday. It's an event the city and many of it's businesses look forward to each year.

From the music to the dancing the good times were rolling' in downtown. We found a lot of first timers who enjoyed they event. Ashley Mervin is from Thomasville.

"This is my first time, it's great, awesome," said Mervin.

"We are enjoying ourselves, it's my first time being here and I like it," said Brittney Parker, Atlanta Resident.

Parker's cousin Nicole and her family just moved to Albany from North Carolina.

"I really do enjoy it because I'm from Charlotte N.C. and they have stuff like this in downtown," said Nicole Parker.

Vendor Danny Reeves with Party Plus Weddings said any business is good business.

"It was slow earlier but once the weather breaks everyone comes down," said Reeves.

Reeves said he wouldn't mind having something on a monthly basis here to highlight downtown.

"I think it would be good, maybe not on this scale, they can get something here regularly where people could get it on their calendar," said Reeves.

This is the 9th year Albany has hosted the Mardi Gras celebration.
