AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Southwestern men's making basketball team made school history in winning their first ever Peach Belt Conference title this season.
The Hurricanes season of first continued at the conference's banquet Friday.
Head coach Mike Leeder was named coach of the year.
Leeder led the Canes to 20 wins and certain NCAA DII tournament berth.
Junior Phillip Brown is the Peach Belt Conference player of the year.
The Jonesboro native averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds a game.
Hurricanes guard Colin Slotter wins the freshman of the year.
Brown was a first team all conference selection, Slotter was third team and Trayce Macon was second team.
GSW plays UNC Pembroke in the conference tournament semifinals Saturday at 8:00p.m. in Aiken, South Carolina.
Former Monroe star Dominique Gilbert was a second team selection on the women's all-conference team.
