Get a permit to burn

DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Dry and windy conditions gave way to an out of control brush fire Thursday, it's one many reported in the area.

There were three reported brush fires, one on Harris Road started from a burn in which a permit had not been issued, it's a mistake that could cost you a fine.

"Not only can you be fined but you certainly will be charged suppression charges if we have to come out and get it under control," said Tom Lambert, Chief Forest Ranger.

The permits doesn't cost anything except little bit of your time to make a phone call.
