Double homicide outside east Albany sports bar

EAST ALBANY,  GA (WALB) -  Two people were found dead Thursday morning around 2:45 a.m. in a grassy area just outside AppleJax Sports Bar and Lounge on East Broad Avenue. Albany Police say 23-year-old Jerro Toye and 22-year-old Joshua Walls were stabbed to death when leaving the club.

Word that two people had been stabbed to death outside the popular East Albany sports bar spread quickly drawing a big crowd.

"A security guard came in and said you have to shut the club down," said DJ "Young Money" who was working Thursday morning.

"Everybody just started running. And when I ran over there I saw both of them lying on the ground and I'm like, wow," said the DJ.

He says he didn't notice any commotion inside AppleJax but District Attorney Greg Edwards says it appears right now that some sort of fight or argument inside the sports bar led to the deaths of Toye and Walls.

"We're going to be gathering evidence including video tape regarding that. But most of what happened that resulted in the deaths happened outside of the club," said Edwards.

Several witnessed are being questioned but no one has been charged at this time. DJ "Young Money" says the victims often visited the sports bar.

"It's crazy because I knew both the guys, and we were just in the club," he said.

He says he hopes the killer or killers are brought to justice.

"All I can do now is pray for everybody," he said.

Coroner Emma Quimbley says the victims' bodies will be transported to a GBI crime lab for an autopsy. She says they were both stabbed multiple times in their chests.
