ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Big Brothers Big Sisters is trying to spread the word about the program in Albany and show how much it impacts the lives of young people.

Wednesday night we met 15-year-old Cody Yearton and his big brother Dr. Peter Taylor as they practiced jujitsu together.

Cody has been through hard times from being expelled from school to being homeless. He and his big brother say the program means a lot to both of them.

"It's a good experience meeting a new mentor and having someone to look up to," said Cody Yearton.

"You've got a person you can affect in a positive way and be a role model to that may not have many in their lives," said Peter Taylor, Big Brother.

Cody plans to become a certified lifeguard this year and start school at Albany Tech in the welding program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters needs more volunteers in Albany.
