ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Albany Police hope surveillance video will lead to the arrest of a smash & grab burglar.

The thief broke into Aaron's appliance store on Dawson Road and single-handedly swiped a 65-inch big screen TV.

It happened shortly after 3:30 Tuesday morning.

Surveillance cameras captured a man wearing dark clothing casing the store before throwing a cinder block through a glass window.

"We do believe there was someone waiting, possibly with another vehicle. It was hard and difficult for him toting one 65 inch TV out the window. It all happened within 2 or 3 minutes," said APD Lt. James Williams.

Williams says flat screen TVs are hot items for thieves. He recommends property owners writing down serial numbers in case the stolen items are recovered. Those numbers are also filed with local pawn shops.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call APD or CrimeStoppers at 229-436-TIPS.
