Pike says he's considering Mayoral run

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A day after Albany Mayor Willie Adams announced he won't run for re-election, no one is ready to announce a campaign to replace him yet.

Several current city commissioners are considering a run.   Ward four commissioner Roger Marietta told us Tuesday he decided against it.

Ward Three Commissioner Christopher Pike says he's giving serious consideration to running.

He said, "We just want to make sure that the support is there, that it's the right thing for the city.  It's not about me wanting to be Mayor.  It's about what's best for the city and so I'm going to take three weeks to get the pulse of the community to see if that's something that is going to be beneficial to the city and then we'll make a decision at that point."

Candidates still have quite a while to make a decision.    Qualifying is the week of August 29th.

We reported Monday night that Gethsemane Worship Center Bishop Frederick Williams was considering running for Mayor.   He said Tuesday he isn't running but thinks we need good leadership and someone who is in tune with the community.
