WORTH COUNTY, GA (WALB) - We begin with a tragic story from Worth County.  A 19-month old little girl drowned in a pool outside her house.

Shortly before six Friday night, first responders rushed to this home on Lupo Road in southern Worth County.

Jeff Hobby was outside with his little girl Kari Ann.  Somehow the toddler ended up in the pool. Her father performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took Kari Ann to Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, where she was pronounced dead.

Worth County Sheriff Freddie Thompkins said, "It was just a freak accident. He turned his head around, and the baby, he didn't see her. Looked over in the pool and thought he saw a doll in the water and looked and jumped into the pool and it was his baby."

Family members say the little girl was very active.  Authorities are still investigating exactly what happened, but they will not file any charges.
