ALBANY, GA (WALB) - During these tough economic times, lottery sales are still holding strong at most stores. That's the case at one store we stopped at Tuesday in Albany.

Clerk Danielle Herrington says she's had customers come in and buy hundreds of dollars in scratch off tickets. That's not the case at all stores that sell lottery, they've seen sales slow down.

Tony Haycliff is a regular lotto player. He buys about five tickets a day, and doesn't believe the economy is turning other people away either.

He said, "I don't think that has nothing to do with it. People just going to buy tickets because they love buying tickets." "No. Everybody likes their lotto, so it hasn't slowed down a bit, not that I'm aware of, everybody plays," said Herrington.

Georgia lottery officials say they've been affected by the economy like everyone else, but are still seeing strong sales.
