ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State's Police Chief and the SWAT Commander gave their units a "C" for performance in the drill.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. They say it showed first responders the areas where they need improvement.
The mock shooting at the Albany State University Campus involved every law enforcement and first responder organization in Dougherty County, plus the two hospitals and health department.
At a drill debriefing meeting Monday, Chief Roberson Brown complimented his officers and the other agencies on the way they worked together, but said there are areas they can improve on.
Brown said "With the training we have received we are more prepared that we were one year ago. Hopefully it doesn't occur, but we want the bad guys to know if they come, we are ready for them, whatever may occur."
Chief Brown said with the number of shootings and emergencies on college campuses around the country, it's a necessity for law enforcement to hold drills like this to be ready in case it happens in Albany.
