
is anchor and Executive Producer of WALB's 11 PM News. He also co-anchors First News at 5 and the 6 PM News.
Ben is a native South Georgian who returned to his roots in 2001. Ben was born in Americus and lived in several towns in the WALB viewing area, including Blakely and Moultrie, where he graduated from Colquitt County High School in 1987.
Ben received a Communication Arts degree with a minor in English from Georgia Southern University in 1991. Shortly after college, Ben came to WALB as a general assignment reporter, and quickly became our weekend anchor, and then a primary weekday anchor. He helped lead our coverage of the flood of 1994 and covered the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
During his initial stint in Albany, Ben won numerous state, regional, and national journalism awards from the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio and Television News Directors Association, and the National Academy of Television Journalists.
Ben left WALB in 1997 to become an anchor and reporter at WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee where he also won awards for his work. More recently, he produced nationally syndicated news stories for a company in Atlanta before returning to WALB in late 2001.
Ben is a huge sports fan. He volunteers for such organizations as the Southwest Georgia Therapeutic Horse Riding Association and Habitat for Humanity. He is single and lives with his dogs, Osgood and Brinkley.
