WALB's Most Wanted: Charles Powers

    An escapee is wanted for sexually assaulting a Randolph County woman.   This is 43-year old Charles Powers. He was arrested Thanksgiving Day for questioning in the rape of a woman in her Shellman home earlier that day.

But Powers, who's spent quite a bite of time locked up, had no intentions of going back to jail. He managed to wriggle out of one of his handcuffs in the back of the deputies' car and when they arrived at the jail in Cuthbert Thanksgiving night, Powers knocked the deputy down and ran off toward Church Street.  

He's 5'8", 183 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo of a unicorn on the left side of his chest. Powers is a carpenter in the Shellman area and has been arrested several times... mainly on theft charges.

Now there are warrants on him for escape, battery on a police officer and probation violation.

Charles Powers was last seen wearing a camouflaged shirt and blue jeans. There was a report that he was spotted on U.S. 82 in Lee County Wednesday morning, but so far, he's not been caught.
