Crime Unit needs one more gang member

July 3, 2007

Albany -- Fifteen Albany men are charged with gang participation, during a round up of suspected gang members. The District Attorney's Office Organized Crime Unit has 14 of the gang suspects in jail, and are asking your help finding one missing  gang suspect.

The Grand Jury issued sealed indictments for the 15 men based on evidence seized during raids of suspected gang members homes in May.  Guns, clothes, and gang books were some of the items taken in the raids, and used for information to learn more about Albany's gangs.

Most of the 15 suspects were in jail charged with other crimes when the round up began.  Four men were arrested in the gang round up--  Aveshia Walker, Timothy Murray, Odell Alexander, and Phildrick Davis.  Prosecutors say they are serious about stopping gang crime.

"It's a continuing thing," said Greg Edwards Chief Assistant D.A.  "Our organized crime unit will be working on gangs, and guns, and other things relating to this kind of activity.  So we will be working."

The Organized Crime Unit is still looking for 20-year-old Jeremiah White, the only one of the 15 indicted gang suspects still at large.  If you have any information, call CRIME STOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
