Peter Pan Peanut Butter recall expanded

February 26, 2007

Sylvester-  The Food and Drug Administration has expanded its recall of Peter Pan Peanut Butter to include single serving packs of peanut butter.

Potentially contaminated products now include 3/4 ounce and 1.1 ounce single serving packs of Peter Pan Peanut Butter.  These new products were sold to institutional food establishments and the FDA is trying to determine who these establishments and food service providers are.

All jars with the product code that begins 2111 were recalled February 14th.  Several jars in Iowa, Oklahoma, and New York tested positive for Salmonella last week.

To date 329 people have been sickened by the peanut butter and 51 of those have been hospitalized.
