Tifton- If you get a traffic ticket in Georgia, your fine will get a little bigger.
That extra money will be used to make sure young drivers are ready to hit the road. Tuesday, Governor Sonny Perdue signed Joshua's Law. A new surcharge on traffic fines will fund driver training courses for teens. Teens who don't take the class will have to wait until they're 17 to get a driver's license.
Some teen drivers say it's a good idea.
"Every day pretty much at the high school there's an accident in the parking lot because some people just don't know the rules of the road," said Alisabeth Pritchett, a senior at Tift County High School. "I don't think they get enough hours in training."
The governor wants changes made to the law next year. He doesn't like the fact that students who can't take the course at school would have to pay for a private course or wait a year for their license.
