Valdosta - Playing the lottery could soon be as simple as turning on your computer.
The Georgia House has voted to allow online lottery sales. Players would apply for an online account, then go to an existing lottery retailer to fill out a written application and prove they're at least 18 years old. Once they're approved by the state, a player could add money to their account using a debit card and direct the computer to automatically play their numbers.
A lot of lottery players like the idea. "I'm sure it would be more convenient for the players, therefore the lottery would make more money and I'm sure that's what they're looking to do," said Jim McAllister.
The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration. If it's passed, Georgia would become the first state with an online lottery.
