Albany -- A former Lee County high school teacher, on trial for distributing child pornography, testifies he was fighting against pedophiles.
37-year-old Michael O'Keefe told jurors he began visiting child pornography web sites in 1996 to gather evidence against child predators. Fighting back tears, O'Keefe said he wanted to get child porn off the Internet.
O'Keefe said he helped build five web sites in his work with anti-child pornography organizations.
Four of his former students at Lee County High school testified O'Keefe used his computer during class, but never saw him looking at porn web sites.
Testimony is expected to be finished Wednesday. Judge Louis Sands says if there is enough time, he will let the jury begin deliberations before breaking for Thanksgiving. They would recess until Tuesday if they do not reach a verdict Wednesday.
