Now Hester is anxious for the Falcons to look like a playoff contender when Atlanta starters get an extended look in their third preseason game against Tennessee tonight.

ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Hawks have re-signed guard Shelvin Mack. General manager Danny Ferry says Mack proved to be a good fit for coach Mike Budenholzer's system. Mack averaged 7.5 points and ranked second on the team with 3.7 assists per game. He played in 73 games, including 11 starts.

GREENVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a second man is in custody is the shooting death of former University of Alabama football player Ozell Powell. Police in Powell's hometown of Greenville say Samarjay Demontes Peterson surrendered yesterday. Peterson is now charged with murder. He's jailed without bond.
