
ALEXANDER CITY, AL (WALB) - The Darton College golf team picked a good time to shoot one of their best rounds of the season.
The Cavaliers shot a five-under par 283 in the second round and that has them in second place at the NJCAA Division I District IV golf tournament.
Darton's low score keeps them in striking distance of first place Meridian.
The top half of the teams in the field will qualify for the NJCAA Division I tournament next month in Odessa, Texas.
Darton is just four shots back heading in to Tuesday's final round after Meridian shot a 278 in the afternoon.
At the Gulf South Conference tournament, Valdosta State is sitting in 4th place.
Blazers 592 score is ten shots behind leader West Florida with 18 more holes to play Tuesday.
High school golf, Deerfield-Windsor claims the GISA 3-AAA tournament title in Perry.
Josh Crews won medalist honors for the Knights with 72.
Deerfield-Windsor scored 308, Tiftarea 329, Westfield 340 and Sherwood Christian qualifies for state with a 379.
The GISA AAA state golf tournament is May 8th at Jekyll Island.
