ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The gridiron rivalry between Albany State and Valdosta State could return this fall.
Sources at both schools have confirmed that the Rams and Blazers are talking about playing each other in 2011.
The two teams played in the regular season for ten years until 2007.
The two schools are looking at resuming the rivalry because both have a hole in their schedule.
Valdosta State lost their game with Lambuth after Lambuth announced last week the school is closing at the end of June.
Albany State lost a conference game with the SIAC splitting into two division this season and the Rams need a third non-conference game in order to have a ten game schedule.
Which is required to qualify for the SIAC Championship game.
Albany State and Valdosta State are negotiating on playing each other this season and hope to have a final agreement soon.
