Albany's Downtown Manager asked Dougherty County Commissioners Monday for permission to use the county's parking deck for a public event.
Aaron Blair also updated County Commissioners on growth downtown. He told them three new businesses, including a produce market, will open later this month. Commissioners gave Blair the okay to use the top half of the parking deck April 29th for Nights@DTown, a cultural arts event for adults.
"We're really pushing the live portion of it we'll have four musicians that will play throughout the night, then we also have a whole series of artists that will be painting live, sculpting live, theatrical live, graffiti arts, we have a whole spectrum," said Aaron Blair, Downtown Albany Manager.
Commissioners also questioned Blair about the Oglethorpe Crossing development which will be discussed at the Tax Allocation District meeting later this week. Blair also told them plants for a new Multi-modal Transportation Center between Flint Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue at North Washington Street are still moving forward.
