VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police confirmed Saturday that bones found buried behind an abandoned home Friday night are human.

Investigators made the unsettling discovery in a yard on Church Street.

They were acting on a tip from the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.

The remains have not been identified yet, but they're treating the case as a homicide.

Neighbors say John Jordan lived at the house and they haven't seen him for more than two years.

"We had no idea he was dead we knew he was missing for about two and a half years," Robert McConnehead, Neighbor.

McConnehead hopes the bones found are not that of his neighbor.

If you know anything about the case, Valdosta Police Department want to hear from you.

You can call the department or their anonymous tip line at (229) 293-3091.
