ALBANY, GA (WALB) - James Vargas shot a 7 under 65 final round to win the Michelob Ultra Classic at Stonebridge. The Miami native finished at 21 under overall for the title. Albany native Josh Broadaway went into the final round tied for 6th. He would fail to drop the par putt on 17 and would have to settle for bogey.
On the 18th, Broadaway's birdie shot lipped out before he tapped in for par. He shot a 6 under 66 on Sunday and 18 under overall which tied him for 4th.
Vargas said "You gotta take the success and just build off of it. You can't really dwell on it too much. You want to enjoy it for a couple of days and then get right back to work and try to get better"
Broadaway said "I had a couple of putts I could have made. With the course playing as easy as it did today, I figured I was going to have shoot 20 to have a chance and I think 21 was probably going to win. It was great to have everybody come out, you know anytime you get support from people here in Albany it's great."
Broadaway will play in the South Georgia Classic next week in Valdosta.
