Firefighters think a vagrant is responsible for a fire in South Albany. The fire started around eight Friday morning at this home in the 1100 block of South Van Buren.

It started in the bedroom, spread to the attic, and burned it's way over to an adjacent apartment. WG&L turned off power and gas while firefighters worked to get the fire contained.

Neighbors say the duplex has been vacant for years.

"I smelled smoke first, then I ran out side. I walked outside my back door and saw thick smoke. I saw somebody over by the house, but I was more concerned about my Aunt's home next door," said Neighbor Tamara Gillan.

No other homes were damaged. And the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
